Week 1

What have been your prior experiences with Web 2.0 technologies? Do you consider yourself a leader or a follower in this realm, or something else altogether? Why? Also, discuss what you hope to get out of this class.

I took Media, Text, and Tech last semester, and Web 2.0 was incorporated into the course. I learned about Web 2.0 technologies such as diigo and wikis, and got to experience them firsthand. Before that course, the majority of my Web 2.0 experience was with social networking sites. Even after Media, Text, and Tech I still feel like I am a follower in this realm, because that course was my very first time experiencing some of those technologies. I learned a lot last semester, but there were some aspects of the technologies that still left me feeling awkward. Hopefully, after this course, I will be more of a leader in this realm!

From this course, I would like to experience even more Web 2.0 technologies and I am looking forward to spending more time on them than my last course. The required text, as well as the additional articles, look like good reads. I am also looking forward to keeping up with this blog and reading my classmates' blogs! It is a fun way to keep up with each other and is a different "scene" than the discussion board.
